Energy resources on planet Tellus
Why is it that nobody seem to realize that we are sitting on an enormous resource of infinite energy that is really clean and environmentaly loveable?
I am referring to the heat in the interior of our own planet, even called geo-thermal energy. Even if we tap this energy wildly and savagely, we will not be able to influence the cooling of this planet even the least. The geo-thermal energy is there and it is available and we will not need to destroy the beauty of the nature on our planet to get at it.
However, it will cost a bundle! But so will any of the alternatives!
We already have the drilling techniques. We are very skilled in drilling tunnels for all kinds of things. Horizontally! We will have to change the direction to vertical in stead.
We do not have to drill very deep in places. What we are looking for is under ground hot water lakes or emptied oil wells that has been filled with (now warm) water.
What we should do is to utilize the heat in the water to drive generators to create electrical energy. Once we have electrical energy, we know what to do with it and how to handle it.
We will no longer have to rely on carbon based fuels to drive the electrical power plants any more. We will not have to rely on nuclear power plants that produce radioactive waste any more. The risk of a melt down can be eliminated for new nuclear power plants that will not need to be built. We may reach a situation where we will have a surplus of electrical energy. What a dream!
Geo-thermal energy will not replace the petrol in our cars right away but with wast supplies of electrical energy and the inevitable drain of avalable petrol, we will have to direct research towards new ways to store electrical energy in a little space and with low weight. I feel rather confident that mankind will succeed in this if the incentive is strong enough.
So, why is this alternative never discussed?
Why do people and especially politicians continue to discuss sun-based, wind-based and wave-based energy? These alternatives destroy our beautiful nature and make noises etc. and is a nuisance to anybody who will have to live close by.
It seems like nuclear energy will be accepted again in countries where this kind of energy production was banned until recently (Sweden). But they do not consider geo-thermal energy for one single second. Why?
The geo-thermal energy is close by, regardless of where on this earth you live and it is vast!
Please, you presidents and prime ministers of USA, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, China and all countries in Europe, start thinking and allow some research related to geo-thermal energy for human use.
